Mark Walsh won the Players Championships at Coventry, finishing in a Final Victory over the World Number 1 Phil Taylor. Walshie lost only 8 legs from the Quarter Final onwards and claims his first title in 2009.

Walshie was in superb form from the start in Coventry and started his assault on the title with a 6-0 Whitewash over Scott Kirchner in Round 1. In Round 2 Walshie beat Dave Honey 6-3. Jim Withers was beaten 6-3 in Round 3. Superman could not stop Walshie in the Last 16 as Mark beat Matt Clarke 6-1 to progress to the Quarter Finals.

Mark overcame local Darter Steve Beaton 6-1 in the Quarter Final. He then claimed his Final place by beating the Raging Bull Terry Jenkins 6-2 in the Semi Final to set up a Final against Phil Taylor.

Walshie raced into a 2-0 lead and then kicked on to lead 5-2 against Taylor, before the Power broke back and made it 5-4. Walshie kicked on again and 3 straight 140's followed by an 81 Finish in 3 darts gave Walshie the Title against Taylor by 6 legs to 4.
